Eduardo and Mauricio have worked together in various Mexican restaurants in Sydney and now bring their passion and expertise to the streets of the Gold Coast in their very own venture – Zicatela Mexican, a 4m food trailer serving up Mexican food with a twist.
Eduardo and Mauricio have a unique feature in their food van that one wouldn’t expect to see in a Mexican kitchen – a woodfired pizza oven. The Zicatela boys will be hand making their soft taco shells from scratch and popping them in the woodfired oven to add their own unique smoked flavour.
Zicatela are serving up gourmet food such as their very own fish taco, made with beer battered market fish finished in the wood fired oven, smoked chipotle mayonnaise, mex-slaw, pomegranate chutney and herbs. Certainly not your average Mexican food!
The Gold Coast is one of Australia’s hottest locations for food trucks right now with its council embracing the food truck scene by hosting many hugely popular food truck events on a regular basis. The Council’s latest initiative involves an introduction of food trucks into parks throughout the city in order to offer a high quality, low cost food service to park users. Wouldn’t it be great to see some other towns and cities throughout Australia follow suit!
